Threat to American Companies briefing

Presented by: Special Agent Robert Zalno – FBI Pittsburgh, Strategic Partnership Outreach Coordinator

Counterintelligence refers to efforts made by intelligence organizations to prevent hostile or enemy intelligence organizations from successfully gathering and collecting intelligence against them.

The FBI is the lead agency for exposing, preventing, and investigating intelligence activities on U.S. soil, the FBI works to keep weapons of mass destruction and other embargoed technologies from falling into wrong hands, to protect critical national secrets and assets, and to strengthen the global threat picture by proactively gathering information and intelligence.

Each year the FBI estimates that billions of U.S. dollars are lost to foreign and domestic competitors whom deliberately target economic intelligence in flourishing U.S. industries and technologies.

Presented by Special Agent Robert Zalno, FBI Pittsburgh Strategic Partnership Outreach Coordinator, this briefing will explain trends seen nationally and locally. These threats can include issues from: travel safety (from a CI perspective), hacking of corporate computers, and suspicious requests for products/information.
